Ruzuzi is a playful gorilla and especially plays with the children of his older sister Janja -Bonane and Kwibesha. He plays all the typical games that young gorillas like to play – running, tumbling and rolling!

Ruzizi’s mother is dead – she was killed in June 2007 during a tragic slaying. Nsekuye liked to stay behind in the group, as a way of checking up on the rest of the family. She liked to make sure that the family was all together. Ruzizi would often become impatient at this and would head up front to be with the others.

Ruzuzi actually means “courgette” in Kinyabwisha, and it was also the name of a Ranger who has died.
